Up until recently the health benefits of beer have been a little misunderstood. When consumed in moderate quantities, good health can be linked to beer. It is made with some very healthy ingredients – hops, brewer’s yeast, barley and malt. Here are some other interesting facts:

  • One beer per day has been associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Beer reduces blood clotting so some studies found that cardiovascular patients who drank one beer per day also lived longer.
  • Women who consume one beer each day have improved mental health.
  • Drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages in moderation may also improve bone density. It contains high levels of an ingredient called silicon that allows the deposit of calcium and other minerals into bone tissue.
  • Beer is actually a good source of foliate, niacin, magnesium, potassium and niacin.
  • The soluble fiber in beer helps promote digestion.
  • Beer does not contain sugar, fat or preservatives.
  • It’s not the beer you drink while kicking back to watch a football game, it’s what you eat while drinking the beer, busting the “beer belly” myth.
